The University of Georgia Police Department is a duly authorized police agency established pursuant to Georgia law O.C.G.A. 20-3-72.

The University of Georgia Police Department is committed to protect and provide professional and dedicated public service to the university community with courage, dependability, and integrity.

Through partnerships with the community, the police department handles law enforcement duties, emergency response, and safety and security concerns within the University of Georgia community. The department also provides services which contribute to the preservation of life, the protection of property, and the safety of the community. Officers are authorized to perform all police related functions and other prescribed duties under the direction and control of the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Finance and Administration and the Vice President for Finance and Administration.

Responsibilities

The Chief of Police has the responsibility of providing for the safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors at the University of Georgia.
